Children’s Classic Books

Children like to read books or be read to, of course, under condition that the story is good. At the moment of writing, the Harry Potter series by J. K. Rowling are the absolute children’s favourite, however, you cannot go wrong either with the children’s books we used to enjoy during childhood. Here are a few children’s classic books that are still popular despite the fact that some of them were written hundreds of years ago.
Robinson Crusoe
Do you remember the story of Crusoe and his companion Friday? Daniel Defoe published his novel as early as 1719, however, it remains just as popular as hundreds of years ago. You definitely must have a copy of Robinson Crusoe on your bookshelf.
Gulliver’s Travels
Another great children’s classic written by Jonathan Swift was published only a few years after Defoe’s Robinson Crusoe and just like the latter, it never went out of print.

Anderson’s Fairy Tales
The Fairy Tales by the Danish author Hans Christian Anderson are an absolute must-have as well if you have children. Some of his best known children’s stories include The Ugly Duckling, The Little Mermaid, The Snow Queen, The Little Match Girl and The Steadfast Tin Soldier.
Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland
The story about a girl named Alice and her adventures in a fantasy world called the Wonderland that was written by Charles Lutwidge Dodgson (under the pseudonym Lewis Carroll) was first published over 150 years ago. However, it is a brilliant story that still thrills the young book readers.
The Adventures of Pinocchio
This children’s classic was written by Italian author Carlo Collodi in the early 1880s. However, the author did not live to see the success of his story about a wood puppet and its adventures before transforming into a real boy.
The Jungle Book
A collection of stories written by the British Nobel Prize winner Rudyard Kipling is another children’s classic throughout the world. If you do not have a copy yet, you should hesitate to get one.

The fantasy children’s novel written by L. Frank Baum is not only one of the most famous children’s novels of all times but it also served as an inspiration of many others, according to some even the today’s hit Harry Potter.
Peter Pan
The story about a boy who can fly and refuses to grow up, and his adventures on the island of Neverland was written by the Scottish novelist J.M. Barrie in the early 20th century. However, it is a masterpiece and still entertains the youngest book lovers all over the world.
Pippi Longstocking
Astrin Lindgren’s story about a girl with red hair worn in pigtails and mismatched stockings who lives in a Swedish village with her monkey and her horse is one of the greatest children’s books of the 20th century and was adapted into a number television series and films.
