Five Books For Every Home

Some people are not particularly fans of books, while those who are have different literary preferences. Nevertheless, there are five books that should be in every home no matter if its occupants like to read books or not and their literary preferences. Here are the books you simply cannot afford not to have.

The Bible

The best selling book of all times should be in everyone’s home no matter if they are Christians or not. You cannot declare yourself a Christian if you do not have a copy of the Bible or if you do not know what the Bible is all about. But if you are not religious that does not mean you do not need to know the Biblical stories. On the contrary, you need to know them very well to be able to defend your points of view and to be able to do that, you need a copy of the Bible.

Cookbook

Cookbook

Most of us stick to meals we know to prepare but sooner or later, we all want to try out something know and have some fun in the kitchen. And this is when you will be glad to have a good cookbook on your bookshelf no matter how good or bad cook you are. In fact, you will probably discover that you need more than just one cookbook, especially if you like to experiment in your kitchen frequently.

World Atlas

No matter how good you think you know geography, there will be times when you will have to “refresh“ your memory. But do not think that the world atlas you keep on your bookshelf “forever“ will do. Nile is still the world’s longest river, Mount Everest is still the world’s largest mountain, however, Kiev is no longer a city in the Soviet Union. The political map of the world has changed dramatically over the last couple of decades which is why you need an up-to-date world atlas rather than just any kind of atlas.

Encyclopedia

Did you ever found yourself in a situation when everyone except yourself knew what a particular term meant or had trouble explaining your kid why the wind blows? There is no reason to feel ashamed if you do not know everything because no one does. You do not have to be a walking encyclopedia as long as you have a good one on your bookshelf enabling you to quickly check why the wind blows and what is dysmenorrhea for instance.

Home Medical Guide Book

You do not need to go to your doctor for every cough or cut. Many minor health issues can be easily treated with home care. If you do not need a medical advice urgently, it may be even better to avoid your doctor’s office, especially during the flu season because you may return home with another health problem. A good home medical guide book is therefore a good investment.
